O Lord, How Long?

We started a brief series working our way through Habakkuk. Habakkuk asks the question we've all asked before: how can this be? When will you act? The Lord responds and affirms that he is sovereign, he will act, and his actions will not be what Habakkuk is expecting.

Like Habakkuk, we often wonder when the Lord will act, and we have a preconceived notion of how we believe he should act. But the Lord's actions are always better, and they bring Him the glory.

Because of God's nature and the promises we have in scripture, we can be certain that God will continue to work in the world. Even when things seem chaotic or too hard to bear - God is there.

Reflection Questions:

  1. Where did you find hope when you've felt hopeless or despondent in the past?

  2. Is knowing you can bring your questions and concerns before the Lord encouraging?

  3. God is constantly doing things we would not believe. The ultimate fulfillment of this is the salvation we enjoy in Christ. How does resting in the promises of Christ assure you during times of disappointment?
