After the Lord reveals to Habakkuk that he will use Babylon to judge and redeem Israel, Habakkuk is shocked and upset. He continues questioning the Lord, wanting to know how the Lord could justify this.
After questioning the Lord, Habakkuk waits. This shows us that we can call upon, regardless of what is happening in our life, but then we are called to wait and trust that the Lord will answer and work.
The Lord answers Habakkuk and reveals to him how his mercy and justice will flow. Furthermore, the Lord points to the reality that in the end, God's glory will fill the earth, and everyone will see it and know he is sovereign.
Reflection questions:
One of the amazing things about the book of Habakkuk is the permission to ask God's question: how does this permission change your struggles?
One of the central themes of Habakkuk is the call to wait on the Lord. How do you do with this when you are called to wait upon the Lord? Is there anything from Habakkuk 2 that might encourage you to wait better?
How does the conclusion that God's glory will fill the earth encourage you today?
