We are reaching the end of our series on Ecclesiastes. This past week, the preacher focused on younger folks and training for lifelong holiness. This can seem like a hard topic, but he shows us how adopting a focus on the goodness and holiness of God can create a life that glorifies God. If you are among our younger members and you missed Sunday, I'd recommend taking a listen this week.
Perhaps the hardest concept is what we do if it feels like we've wasted too much of our life or pain has overcome us. However, we were reminded that God is the good that makes the dead alive. If he can take us from being dead in our sins to alive in Christ - he can change, mend, and restore our broken hearts. Furthermore, he can draw us into the depth of a relationship with him that will help us through any storms.
Reflection questions:
How did Fr. Ian define holiness? What would it look like in your life?
Reading Galatians 5:19-21, do you cling to any of these sins? Are there other things you've made into gods of your heart?
What kind of hope does it give you to know that you are not your own and belong to God through Christ?
